Using XP, with all service packs, and downloaded your easy zip file containing ffmpeg and the text instructions. To test to see if you have it installed, open up a terminal and type ‘ffmpeg' and then press Enter. You are brilliant for this process, and I am brilliant for having found you. So I tried converting to AVi and only the sound will be heard.
Anyone's experience with this software would be welcomed until such time as I can put it through its paces myself. I happen to like .mkv (Matroska) containers, so that's what I went with. The Windows version is just too outdated - I heard the problem was recently fixed with ffmpeg r14480. c:\football.flv etc.
