If you don't have a printer and still have problems with spoolsv.exe, then it's worth a scan with your antivirus and check the registry to make sure nothing funky is there. I was creating a map in Google, clicked print and all hell broke loose. In this situation, your spooler service is probably corrupted. Solution: Deleted two print jobs in C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS and the issue was resolved.
