We have been using domainserver storage for Outlook .PST files since Outlook 2000, 2003, 2007 and now 2010. What did I do? The PST was originally exported from Outlook 2003 and burned to a CD. I didn't have to delete the old pst - I simply added a new pst on each of the computers and made it the new default. Select an account. This was very helpful. Create a new dummy PST using the same Account Settings window and Data Files tab.
I tried the scanpst.exe and it always locked up and I couldn't open Outlook to make the suggested changes so I found that you can alternatively access the Outlook Account Settings I was using MS Outlook 2003 . Anyway -- I'm going to just leave it this way since everything is working, and I don't really need Publisher anyway, just had wanted to see if it was any different. I started looking at the profile setup, and in particular the location for the received email for the account that was failing.
