If it doesn't, you'll have to find your installation CDs so that you can try a repair from the Recovery Console. Just because Home may not include this GUI or allow you to do a Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc, etc., it doesn't necessarily mean the settings aren't apart of the some i will let you know, if some of this works .... http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/197676/the-procedure-entry-point-shreggetvaluew-could-not-be-located-in-the-dynamic-link-library-shlwapidll/
I reinstalled SP2 from a CD-ROM I had made previously, rebooted and everything was fine. Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life. Nosgoth Posted 07 November 2009 - 02:54 AM Raziel v. Perhaps Windows Update did something flaky? ...
After that, I ran CHKDSK and found no problems. I just attempted another install of SP2, which then promptly hung at 25% (the pre-MalwareBytes amount). No Error. original site I still get the same hang in the SP2 installer.
Give it the install disk if you have it. I hit ctrl-alt-del and started a new task... It's worth a try and it's impossible to do any damage w/ Dial-A-Fix, so check ALL the boxes if you feel like it! So, I doubt if the thing has Service Pack 1, unless it came in the Restore Disk files.
I had to download an SP2 (service pack 2) upgrade from Microsoft. see here I have searched message boards, troubleshooting, the internet for help, but can find none. Any other details someone might need to help me out.....or tell me to take it to someone to fix.....or tell me to trash the thing? I have had so much difficulty navigating to any other sites, including Windows or Microsoft, that it has been virtually impossible to download any Service Packs.

Probably not. I certainly do appreciate all the help so far though. Thanx for any and all suggestions! Get More Info I did what you sugggested and it asked for my install disc.
If not, you could try SFC again to see if it still wants to repair system files. I truly doubt that the Restore Disk contained Service Pack 2. It works! It would continually restart itself after the Windows loading screen (the one with the blue loading bar).
I can't find it anywhere on my computer. You never know when one will leave you.
