Can you try installing the newest JDK 8u5, pointing NetBeans 8 and NetBeans 7.4 to it (by changing their netbeans.conf) and try running both 7.4 and 8.0 for a while with I agree with Jeff_brower that even though this is an AMD problem netbeans 8.0.1 should not fail and hope this piece of information may be helpful in finding out what part check my blog I am running NetBeans 7.4, 7.3, 7.2 and 6.9.1 all without any issue on the same computer making this a NetBeans 8 issue only.
